Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s most popular safari destinations, located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. The park is globally known for its shimmering lake, once famous for vast flocks of pink flamingos, and today celebrated as a leading sanctuary for both black and white rhinos.
Beyond its birdlife, Lake Nakuru offers excellent opportunities to see lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and a wide variety of bird species. The park’s compact size makes it ideal for short safaris and day trips from Nairobi, while its scenic viewpoints and acacia woodlands provide stunning landscapes.
The best time to visit is during the dry seasons (June – October and January – February) for easier wildlife spotting. Birdlife is present year-round, but flamingo numbers vary depending on water conditions.
