The Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s most famous safari destination and one of the top wildlife reserves in Africa. Located in southwestern Kenya along the border with Tanzania’s Serengeti, the Maasai Mara is globally renowned for its exceptional wildlife density, vast savannah plains, and the world-famous Great Migration.
Visitors to the Maasai Mara can experience unmatched wildlife viewing, including sightings of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, and over 450 bird species. The open landscapes make it one of the best places in Africa for photography and game drives.
The Maasai Mara is a year-round safari destination, but the best time to visit is during the Great Migration season (July to October) when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. The dry seasons (June – October and January – February) offer the best wildlife visibility.
